Raimo Vertainen has a broad range of experience in music. A conductor, teacher, artistic director, arranger, organiser, musician, creator of ideas – all these descriptions apply. The results of his work can best be heard at any concert of the orchestras he so skilfully conducts. A significant part of his continuing work is acting as the conductor of the tango orchestra Guardia Nueva, which he himself founded.
Vertainen’s work is based on extensive, partly international studies in accordion playing. His activities as a soloist and with various ensembles have brought him several first prizes in competitions and numerous concert performances in 18 countries.
Raimo Vertainen has also been an active founder of many noteworthy events, such as the Kokkola Winter Accordion Festival and the Brahe Classica concert series. His catching enthusiasm and productive energy characterise all his activities in the different musical fields he is involved in.
